Bike Check: 2020 Knolly Warden 168 (LT)

What's your model and frame size? How does it fit?

My model is the 2020 Warden LT, with the NSMBA graphics on the frame. My frame size is a

Medium, which I find to be a perfect fit for myself ( I am 5’9”). The first thing I noticed on this bike was the difference in the length compared to my 2018 Warden. I find the added length to be a very comfortable size for my height, especially considering I am on the cusp between a medium and large.

What is your build spec?

My build spec for this is unique, as some of the parts are different from the stock Dawn Patrol

and Extra Credit builds that knolly has. For my build spec I chose the LT version of the Warden build, which allows me to have more travel with 170mm fork, and 168mm shock, compared to the 160/160mm for the standard warden.

Where do you live and what trails do you like to ride?

I live on the North Shore of Vancouver, where I will mostly be riding my Warden. I also love to

ride Squamish and Whistler trails; I am really looking forward to testing this bike in the Whistler Mountain Bike Park. My favourite trails are all natural, rough and rooty, classic “north shore” trails, I also really enjoy a good rock slab which is why Squamish is one of my favourite riding locations.

How's the bike performing? What do you like about it?

So far this bike has been the best bike I have ever ridden, and I am not exaggerating! For me, the LT version was the way to go and is the perfect all round bike that rips anything that I throw at it. I like to think of it as a mini DH bike. What I like most about it is its capability to plow through anything smoothly while remaining quick and agile, even in really rough terrain. I have had multiple friends test it out, and immediately are impressed by how smooth of a ride it is. In the past I have been more hesitant on jumps/drops on my 160/160mm but the longer travel is definitely a confidence booster. I am looking forward to further testing its capabilities and exploring more trails throughout BC.
